Hello from Cáceres!

I made it!

After a long, icy drive to Des Moines, a flight cancellation, 10+ hours of flight time, 6 hours at the Madrid airport, and a 4-hour bus ride I am officially here!

The trip was mostly uneventful. I showed up at the airport and US Airways decided they didn't want to come to work yesterday. So I flew United to Chicago and then straight on to Madrid instead of stopping in Philadelphia. It was a pretty turbulent flight so I haven't gotten much sleep at all, but overall not bad.

My host family is great so far. My mom and brother are both very nice, and my flat (apartment) is very cute. I have a dog, too! His name is Epi. He's kind of a spaz, but a loveable one. Oh, and apparently my brother's girlfriend lives in Chicago and went to Iowa State. Although, I could have completely misunderstood that. But he definitely said Iowa State and Chicago. So either he doesn't know where Iowa State is, or I am way off here...

I don't have much to say right now. I'm pretty tired from the trip and will probably go to bed soon. I'm seven hours ahead of all of you back in Iowa, but hopefully I'll be able to catch some of you on facebook chat now and then. I'm nervous and excited and kind of freaked out right now, but I think it's going to be a great trip. Love and miss you all!

¡Besos!
